Job Description
The Occupational Therapy Department at Elizabethtown College is currently seeking an Assistant Teaching Professor / OT Academic Fieldwork Coordinator MS Program.
This position requires (previous) successful experience supervising students in clinical level I & II fieldwork. The individual holding this position provides oversight and responsibilities for the management of all MS student fieldwork, collaborates in the completion of the curricular assessment of FW performance, contributes to needed updates of the FW Manual, complies with accreditation standards pertaining to FW, stays abreast of accreditation and professional changes and the implications for FW and seeks mentoring/ collaboration as needed.
Job Duties
Accreditation
– Is the AFWC on record for ACOTE for the MS program, keeps abreast of changes to the FW expectations, and professional focus of FW.
– Organizes and maintains documentation of all fieldwork requirements for self-study, program evaluation, and reaccreditation by ACOTE for the MS program, with support from the OTD AFWC as needed.
– Updates Fieldwork manuals in cooperation with the OTD AFWC, academic faculty, and program directors. All policies and procedures need to be in compliance with accreditation standards.
– Oversees all documentation requirements, including contracts, for successful start-up and completion of student fieldwork experiences for the MS program.
Curricular and Program
– Collaborates with the OTD AFWC and Fieldwork Support Specialist to ensure adequate placements and consistency between the MS and OTD FW experience and ACOTE standards.
– Collaborates with the OTD AFWC to implement Level I and Level II coursework including developing Level I (OT 571/572/573) and Level II (OT 595/596) course syllabi, determining course structure, developing student assignments, providing resources as applicable and other learning experiences, and evaluating student performance.
– Collaborates with the Director of Learning and Disability Services to guide students protected by the ADA through the transition from classroom to clinic via self-advocacy and navigating the ADA process in fieldwork.
– Provides appropriate intervention strategies as needed, for students in jeopardy of failing either Level I or Level II. Documents learning plans accordingly and works collaboratively and intently with the FW Educator and student on the completion of the learning plan(s).
– Actively engages in the assessment of student FW performance for annual reviews, program evaluation, and accreditation reports for the MS program.
– Provides feedback on annual performance reviews for the Fieldwork Support Specialist.
MS Level I/II Fieldwork
Level I Fieldwork: According to ACOTE Standards and ETOWN OT FW philosophy Level I fieldwork is a combination of community-based placements and faculty led simulation experiences to introduce students to fieldwork, apply knowledge to practice, and develop understanding of the needs of clients.
– Organizes and plans community-based Level I experiences and schedules.
– Communicates with students regarding the expectations for Level I including objectives, clearance requirements, the use of Exxat, and the submission of performance assessments and documentation.
– Establishes and maintains contractual arrangements with clinical fieldwork sites (Level I).
– Along with Fieldwork Support Specialist establishes and maintains accurate documentation of the fieldwork I process including documentation of communication with students, FW educators, academic educators to assess simulation experiences using the Level I Fieldwork Performance Evaluation (FWPE) and the program directors as required for accreditation standards and program and college operations.
– Provides student feedback about Level I performance in both the community-based placement and faculty-led simulation experience in anticipation of Level II fieldwork planning.
Level II Fieldwork: Per ACOTE standards, Level II FW entails the completion of 24 weeks of full-time clinical /practice experience by students.
– Establishes and implements a plan for clinical fieldwork (Level II) including selecting, organizing, and evaluating Level II placements prior to students starting their experiences.
– Establishes community-based relationships and provides oversight and facilitation of OT supervision in Level II FW in emergent practice arenas as necessary and applicable.
– Establishes and along with the Fieldwork Support Specialist, maintains contractual arrangements with clinical fieldwork sites (Level II).
– Manages any conflicts with proposed placements, changes in MS Level II arrangements, and addressing identified needs and/or accommodations of students prior to and during Level II FW.
– Assesses student performances weekly and completes visits as needed in conjunction with students, fieldwork and academic educators, and the program director.
– Keeps the Program Director abreast of students who are struggling in Level II FW and communicates the in-progress and completed learning contract(s).
– Works collaboratively with the Program Director in establishing and supporting more extensive remediation plans when students are not successful in MS Level II FW.
Required Qualifications
– Minimum of a master’s degree in OTawarded by a USDE-recognized regional accrediting body.
Current Pennsylvania Occupational Therapy license or license eligible and a strong clinical background including evidence of student supervision and support.
Candidates must have a PA driver’s license or be eligible for a license for required travel.

Preferred Qualifications
-Doctoral degree in OT or related field preferred, awarded by a USDE-recognized regional accrediting body.
– At least 3 years’ experience supervising students in clinical settings for level I & II fieldwork.
– Licensed as an occupational therapist in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or eligible for licensure in PA.
