ASSOCIATE DEAN, ADVISING AND ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT, Undergraduate Advising Center (UAC), to assume a newly created position responsible for leading an advising team to proactively identify students with at-risk factors and support undergraduate students on academic warning and those returning from a required academic leave.  Will coordinate decentralized academic tutoring at MIT and oversee faculty advisor engagement and development to promote academic advising and mentoring best practices; work closely with the associate dean and director of UAC and other campus partners and stakeholders to ensure that undergraduate students receive the guidance and support necessary to achieve their academic and personal goals; and develop and implement strategies to support students and enhance their academic achievement.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  master’s degree in higher education administration, counseling, or related field; seven years’ experience in academic advising, student support services, or a related field; demonstrated record of leadership and program development; experience working with undergraduate students on academic warning or returning from a required academic leave and an understanding of the challenges and needs of these students; experience developing and implementing early alert systems and other programs to support student success; strong supervisory and management skills; ability to build partnerships and collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders; experience leading data-driven assessment and analysis efforts; strong organizational, project management, interpersonal, and communication skills; ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously; knowledge of best practices in academic advising and student support and ability to apply this knowledge to program development and implementation; and ability to approach responsibilities with flexibility in a busy and ever-changing environment.  Job #22642-10

Hiring range:  $95,000 – 120,000

This is a full-time, hybrid position with occasional evening and weekend work.
