The SIU Carbondale School of Psychological and Behavioral Sciences is a vibrant and collegial academic unit that provides many opportunities for collaboration with faculty and students from programs in Behavior Analysis and Therapy (ABAI accredited), Clinical Psychology-Adult and Child (APA-accredited), Counseling Psychology (APA-accredited), Brain and Cognitive Sciences, and Applied Psychology.

Position: Full-time, term, non-tenure-track position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor in The School of Psychological and Behavioral Sciences at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale (

Qualifications: PhD in Psychology or related discipline with a background in one or more of the following areas: Cognitive Science, Life Span Development, or Quantitative Methods. Preferred qualifications include demonstrated experience with distance education, a desire to participate in collaborative research, and/or a scholarly interest in one or more of the following: quantitative psychology, child development, developmental neuroscience, learning and memory, judgment and decision making, cognitive neuroscience, sensation and perception, computational modeling or machine learning.

Duties: The position requires teaching four graduate and/or undergraduate level courses per semester (4/4 Load). Graduate teaching needs include Introduction to Cognitive Science, Computational Modeling, Judgment and Decision Making, Life Span Development, Early Cognitive Development, Aging, Memory, and Cognition, Research Methods for Applied and Professional Psychologists, and Psychological Measurement. Undergraduate teaching needs include Child Development, Adolescence and Young Adulthood, Adulthood and Aging, Judgment and Decision Making, Cognitive Psychology, Sensation and Perception, and Psychological Measurement.

Start Date: August 16, 2019, 9-month appointment.
