Full-Time Communication Lecturer in Presentational Speaking (Academic Year Appointment)

Position Begins: August 2023

The Brian Lamb School of Communication in the College of Liberal Arts at Purdue University invites applications for a full-time, Academic Year (9 month) Lecturer position in Presentational Speaking and Science Communication.  This position will begin in August 2023.

Requirements/Qualifications

Degree in Communication or related discipline, or equivalent experience; minimum three years experience teaching undergraduate classes in Presentational Speaking and Science Communication; evidence of teaching effectiveness; strong organizational skills; some teaching schedule flexibility based on needs of the School.

Principal Duties

The position of full-time Lecturer for the Brian Lamb School of Communication includes the following duties:

  1. Teach four sections each semester in the Brian Lamb School of Communication. The teaching assignment would be COM 114 and COM 217 (Fundamentals of Speech Communication and Science Communication).
  2. Teach learning community setions.
  3. Hold all assigned classes in accord with the university academic calendar.
  4. Hold three office hours each week.
  5. Develop appropriate course syllabi for assigned classes and report final grades for students in a timely fashion in accord with university policy.
  6. Show willingness to be flexible in course assignments and teaching times according to the School’s needs.
  7. Abide by all course policies for any course taught as provided by the relevant course supervisor.
  8. Attend all training and meetings as required by the course supervisor for a given course.
