Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering Technology, beginning August 2020 The School of Engineering & Technology at Central Michigan University seeks an energetic individual for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor Position to teach in Mechanical Engineering Technology beginning Fall 2020, with engineering research interests in the solid mechanics area.Required Responsibilities:1. Develop and teach undergraduate courses and laboratories in Mechanical Engineering Technology and graduate courses in Mechanical Engineering.2. Establish a research program in solid mechanics and publish scholarship in refereed journals. This includes applying for external funding to support teaching, research and professional service, and supervising undergraduate and graduate student research.3. Be actively engaged in research, advising, professional development and service activities. Professional activities include participating in meetings and workshops, establishing appropriate relationships with industry, and other relevant activities.4. Assist with activities related to ETAC/ABET accreditation in Mechanical Engineering Technology and help as needed with other programs.5. Advise senior project teams (some industrial-based) in related fields.
1. Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology or closely related engineering field (candidates will be considered if degree completion is assured before duties commence).2. Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communications skills.3. Demonstrate strong commitment to, and potential for, research initiation, collaboration, and pursuit of external funding in the solid mechanics area.4. Demonstrate ability to develop and teach courses and laboratories in the solid mechanics area of Mechanical Engineering Technology. 5. Demonstrate ability to develop and teach graduate engineering courses related to solid mechanics.6. Demonstrate ability to supervise senior projects (especially industrial-based) for both engineering and engineering technology programs.7. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
