Job description

 The School of Music in the College of Arts and Media at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIU Carbondale) invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Practice/Assistant Lecturer, Music Education faculty position. This is a term, non-tenure track, full-time, on a nine-month appointment. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will begin the appointment on August 16, 2022.

Duties and Responsibilities: Coordinating and developing the music education curriculum with the School of Music and School of Education; teaching undergraduate music education methods courses and graduate music education courses; observation and placement of pre-service teachers, and working with area music teachers and school administrators.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Music Education. Minimum two years of experience teaching at the primary and/or secondary level.

Preferred Qualifications: Doctorate in Music Education. Kodaly and/or Orff certification. Excellent organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to inspire students and work collegially.
