Florida Southern College (www.flsouthern.edu), is accepting applications for the position of Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration.  The Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration will serve as the chief financial and administrative officer of the College, providing strategic leadership and direction for all financial, business, and operational functions. This position oversees budgeting, accounting, financial planning, facilities management, information technology, human resources, campus safety, risk management, auxiliary services, and more to ensure the institution’s long-term fiscal stability and operational excellence. The Executive Vice President works closely with the President and Cabinet to advance the College’s mission, develop sustainable resource strategies, and promote effective stewardship of institutional assets. As a key member of the leadership team, the Executive Vice President fosters a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement in support of the College’s academic and student success goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, investments, and audits.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor the College’s annual operating and capital budgets, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and fiscal sustainability.
  • Advise the President and Board of Trustees on financial strategies, trends, and forecasts to support informed decision-making.
  • Oversee Human Resources, including employee relations, compensation, benefits, compliance, and policy development.
  • Direct the management and maintenance of all College facilities, capital planning, construction projects, and campus safety initiatives.
  • Provide leadership for Information Technology services, ensuring effective and secure systems that support academic and administrative operations.
  • Oversee contracts, risk management, and insurance programs to protect the College’s assets and interests.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and accreditation regulations related to finance and administration.
  • Supervise and mentor department leaders, fostering professional development, collaboration, and high performance.
  • Serve as a key member of the President’s Cabinet and represent the College with external stakeholders, auditors, and partners.
  • Contribute to the success of the department by performing all other duties as needed to drive the vision, fulfill the mission, and abide by the values of the College.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Candidates must have:

  • A Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline; possessing a CPA or similar qualification is an advantage.
  • A Minimum of 7–10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in financial or administrative management, preferably within higher education or a nonprofit organization.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic financial planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • A strong understanding of GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and federal/state compliance regulations.
  • The proven ability to manage diverse operational areas such as HR, facilities, IT, and risk management in a complex organization.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial audiences.
  • Demonstrated leadership, integrity, and commitment to advancing the mission and values of the College.
  • The ability to work collaboratively in a small-college environment that values hands-on leadership and cross-departmental teamwork.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
