Mount Vernon Nazarene University seeks a full-time (9 month) Nursing Faculty Member for its Nursing Program on the Mount Vernon main campus, beginning Fall 2026. Rank is open. Compensation is competitive among the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. A full complement of benefits is provided, including a health care plan, retirement contributions and tuition assistance (self and dependents).

Responsibilities and expectations for this position include:

  • Teach Medical-Surgical nursing in the traditional undergraduate Nursing program (didactic and clinical). Strong preference is for an individual also qualified to teach Advanced Medical Surgical Nursing didactic and clinical.
  • Coordinate Medical-Surgical courses.
  • Teach other courses in the nursing program and College of Arts and Sciences as needed.
  • Teach occasional College of Adult and Professional Studies nursing courses online as part of load or as overload.
  • Advise students majoring in Nursing, ensuring their academic progress meets requirements set by the institution and work with students to encourage professional development.
  • Support departmental efforts for continued improvement of programs.
  • Serve the University through committee participation.

Qualifications for the successful candidate:

  • Evangelical Christian statement of faith, experience, and mission fit
  • Personal commitment to Jesus Christ
  • Understanding and alignment of the heritage, doctrine, and practices of the Church of the Nazarene
  • Doctorate in Nursing, or a related field, preferred; Master of Science in Nursing required.
  • Active, unrestricted Ohio RN license required.
  • Experience of at least 2 years in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse.
  • Didactic teaching experience in higher education for at least 2 years preferred
  • Evidence of scholarly potential.
  • Commitment to quality academic instruction and demonstrable record of successful teaching within higher education.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Desire to help students succeed in the university setting with strong connectivity to college student needs.
