Description: Assistant Professor, Precision Agriculture. This is a 9-month tenure track position with opportunities for summer research support. Salary is commensurate with experience
Examples of Duties: The successful candidate will develop and teach precision agriculture and related course(s) to address undergraduate students and graduates working in the precision agricultural industry and the interdisciplinary applications within agriculture. The successful candidate will develop a research program leading toward extramural funding and refereed publications. The faculty member will also mentor graduate students, advise undergraduates on special projects, and participate in outreach activities.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
1) Earned doctorate by the time of appointment with a primary emphasis in precision agriculture in Agricultural Systems Management, Agricultural and Biological Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline; and
2) Demonstrated effectiveness in oral and written communication.
Preferred Qualifications:
1) Demonstrated expertise in precision agriculture technologies, such as: GPS, GIS, VRT, UAVs, and electronic measurement, analysis and decision making related to agricultural management;
2) Experience in college level teaching and/or ability to teach precision agriculture and related courses;
3) Experience in agricultural mechanics and engineering with an emphasis in precision Agriculture;
4) Professional work experience;
5) Strong skills in computing and data analysis related to precision agriculture;
6) Demonstrated knowledge of crop production and soil systems in Midwestern U.S.; and
7) Experience in grant writing and refereed publications.
