Description:
Houghton University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track appointment in the School of Music at the assistant or associate level starting in August of the 2026-2027 academic year.
Compensation: $45,000 – $55,000 annually, commensurate upon experience.
Job Title: Assistant or Associate Professor of Music Therapy
Responsibilities:
- Teach Music Therapy Courses
- Oversee Clinical Observation Process
- Oversee Clinical Internships
- Help advise and recruit Music Therapy students
Qualifications:
- Possess a personal Christian faith that is reflected in one’s professional and personal life with a sincere respect for and an agreement to live in harmony with the doctrines and positions of The Wesleyan Church, A Vision for our Common Life, and Behavioral Expectations of the University.
- MT-BC
- 5 years clinical experience
- Holds a master’s degree in music therapy or related area, with a minimum of transcripted graduate credits equivalent to 12 semester hours or the equivalent of graduate credits in music therapy beyond the undergraduate equivalency requirements
- Master’s Degree Required, Doctorate preferred.
Also required is ability to help students form respectful attitudes and interactions with people who differ in abilities, attitudes, and cultural experience, with sensitivity to factors that affect our own assessment of others.
Other important qualities for this position include a commitment to excellence and creativity in undergraduate teaching, a mature Christian faith, and an ability to integrate Christian faith into their teaching.
