The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science invites applications for a tenure-track position in Computer Science beginning in fall 2018. We seek candidates with a strong commitment to both teaching and scholarship in a small, undergraduate liberal arts environment. Teaching responsibilities will include five course equivalents per year with the opportunity to develop and teach courses across the computer science curriculum. The successful candidate will exhibit the potential to advise undergraduates, promote student/faculty research and advance a track record of scholarly achievement. Applications from candidates that complement our current research strengths in evolutionary and neural systems, robotics, computer science education, computer vision, and machine learning are particularly encouraged. Applicants must hold or be close to completing a Ph.D. in computer science or a related field.
Dickinson is a highly selective, private, liberal arts college with approximately 2,400 students. Our campus is located near the center of the historic borough of Carlisle, which is 20 minutes west of Harrisburg and just a few hours by car from Philadelphia, Washington DC, Baltimore and New York. Many of our faculty live within walking distance of campus or in the nearby rural areas.
The ability to create inclusive learning environments for an increasingly diverse student body will be an important characteristic of the successful candidate.
How to apply
Applications must include a cover letter, C.V., separate statements on teaching philosophy and research interests, copies of graduate transcripts and three letters of recommendation, at least one of which addresses the candidates potential as a teacher. Applications complete by October 23, 2017 will receive full consideration. Applications complete after that date will be considered while the position remains open.
The College is committed to building a representative and diverse faculty, administrative staff, and student body. We encourage applications from all qualified persons.
