The Foss School of Kinesiology invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Kinesiology to join our team beginning Fall 2026. We seek an enthusiastic scholar-educator with expertise in areas such as exercise physiology, biomechanics, motor learning/control, strength and conditioning, sport science, health promotion, or related fields. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, student advising, and service within a supportive, collaborative environment.

The Foss School of Kinesiology is a vibrant academic unit offering undergraduate programs in Exercise Science (Pre-Physical Therapy, Strength & Conditioning, and Kinesiology), Health & Fitness AdministrationHealth & Physical Education Teacher Education (K-12), and related areas. Our program prepares students for careers in exercise physiology, physical therapy, fitness, teaching, coaching, and more — as well as graduate studies. The department features up-to-date curriculum, new facilities with modern equipment, and dedicated faculty who provide personalized mentorship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach a variety of undergraduate Kinesiology courses, such as:
      • Exercise Physiology (Lecture/lab)
      • Methods in Aerobic & Anaerobic Training
      • Senior Seminar in Physical Education/Health & Fitness Administration
      • Intro to Kinesiology
      • Concepts of Fitness & Wellness
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate students, including internships and career preparation
  • Participate in departmental, school, and university service (e.g., committee work, program development, community engagement)
  • Collaborate on interdisciplinary initiatives, particularly with our Doctor of Physical Therapy program

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science or a closely related field.
  • CSCS certified (NSCA)
  • Passion for excellence in teaching at an undergraduate institution and student success.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D in Kinesiology or a related field.
  • Previous higher education teaching experience.
  • Experience in strength and conditioning, clinical exercise physiology, or pre-professional advising (e.g., pre-PT tracks)
