Description & Details:
The Department of Statistics at North Dakota State University (NDSU), an R1 research institution, invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position. The successful candidate will engage in applied and methodological statistics research and develop and maintain an active, externally visible research program. Teaching responsibilities include up to four courses per academic year and may involve the development of new statistics courses as needed.
The Department of Statistics offers a comprehensive range of programs, including Ph.D., M.S., and B.S. degrees in Statistics; M.S. and B.S. degrees in Data Science; and graduate certificate programs. Additional responsibilities include mentoring and advising graduate and undergraduate students on thesis, dissertation, and project research, as well as providing service to the department, college, and university. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
Hiring Range:
Pay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD in Statistics or related areas (e.g., Data Science, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics) by time of appointment
- Teaching experience in related areas
- Potential to establish an independent and/or collaborative research program appropriate for a research-intensive (R1) university
- Effective oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in Statistics, preferably in area of Applied Statistics, Computational Statistics and Data Science
- Teaching experience in graduate and undergraduate level statistics courses
- Publication record in peer-reviewed statistics journals
- Experience in mentoring and advising graduate and undergraduate students
- Experience in curriculum development
- Evidence of successfully obtaining external grants
- Experience in collaborative research
