Description:

The Center for Neural Science (CNS) at New York University (NYU) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position as an Assistant Professor supported by the Simons Empire Faculty Program. We seek scholars who carry out innovative, rigorous, and impactful research in neuroscience. At the Center for Neural Science, faculty have broad interests in experimental and computational neuroscience as well as neuroengineering and methods-driven approaches, anchored in cognition, perception, and observable behaviors. The Center fosters a collaborative and inclusive environment that privileges excellence, through strong support and mentorship of new faculty, and one of the world’s top doctoral programs in neuroscience. The successful candidate will be expected to lead an internationally-recognized research program that effectively integrates knowledge and techniques across multiple levels of biological organization intended to gain an integrative understanding of cognition and observable behaviors, with a commitment to excellence in teaching and communication. Areas of particular interest include computational neuroscience, neuroengineering. We will only consider candidates doing experimental work that is integral to theory and engineering and do not require any significant wet lab space commitments.

Center faculty are part of a vibrant neuroscience community spanning the Arts and Sciences at the Washington Square campus, the School of Medicine, and the Tandon School of Engineering. The successful applicant will join a collaborative neuroscience community spanning the Arts and Sciences at the Washington Square campus and the Tandon School of Engineering. Qualifications:

Candidates should have a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree, postdoctoral experience, and a strong record of research achievement. We will only consider candidates who have not yet held a faculty appointment. Appointees will establish their own independent research program, and contribute to the teaching of undergraduate and graduate students, and participate in administrative activities in the Center for Neural Science, the Neuroscience community, and NYU.

Pay Transparency

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $100,000 – $150,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
