Description
Reporting to the Dean of the Law School and a key member of the Hofstra Law leadership team, the Associate Dean works closely with the faculty and administration to ensure that Hofstra law students experience a supportive, inclusive, and successful legal education. Major responsibilities include overall administration of the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), including work distribution and flow within the office; managing the broad spectrum of student services, including, but not limited to, student advising (academic and non-academic), disability accommodations and issues of student conduct and safety; and developing and revising policies. Occasional evening and weekend hours are a part of this position. This is an in-person position with limited possibility for occasional remote work.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Builds a sense of community and connectedness among students through coordination of student activities.
- Provides strategic direction for the OSA, ensuring alignment with the school’s mission, values, and accreditation standards.
- Advises the Dean and senior leadership team on student needs and concerns.
- Reviews existing and proactively develops new approaches to OSA workflow, including the use of software and AI.
- Supervises professional and support staff within the Student Affairs Office, fostering a collaborative, data-informed, and student-centered culture.
- Coordinates with elected student officials and student groups about ongoing issues; enhances communication between students and administration; and develop and facilitate student events.
- Administers various policies and procedures, including the Student Conduct Code and Student Manual.
- Works with other departments to coordinate major events, including Orientation, examination administration, and Commencement.
- Coordinates with the Associate Dean for Communications and others on crises and emergencies involving students.
- Oversees wellness programming and initiatives.
- Works with various university offices and administrators on issues relating to accommodations, the code of conduct, mental health counseling, Title IX, and other relevant areas.
- Leads administrative oversight of international programs, including study abroad programs and international LLM student advising.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Dean.
Qualifications
- J.D. degree required.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in law school or higher education student affairs or related areas.
- Demonstrated experience supervising staff and managing complex operational processes.
- Strong organizational skills with the proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to interact comfortably in multiple and diverse settings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced computing skills, including use of student CRM systems and ease and interest in learning and using new technology, including AI.

Salary/Salary Range: $140,000 – $180,000<
