Description:As a principal advisor to the Dean, provides guidance and direction in implementing the College’s financial and administrative policies and procedures.

Position Overview:
As a principal advisor to the Dean, provides guidance and direction in implementing the College’s financial and administrative policies and procedures. Coordinates and monitors the annual operating budget, manages the allocation of the Dean’s resources, and effectively organizes and administers the College’s complex fiscal activities.
Advises and assists Department Chairs and administrators on fiscal, administrative, and human resource matters. Maintains close relationships with major campus administrative units. Coordinates business and financial management and supervises professional staff in the Office of the Dean. Works as a team member with Associate Deans on all questions and issues having fiscal implications. Performs other duties as required and assigned. As the Director of Shared Services, is responsible for overall oversight of shared services, and has responsibility for development and growth of administrative services.

Telework:A hybrid telework schedule may be available.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for financial management and budgeting for the college (recommendation on annual budget allocations and advising the Dean on long-term commitments). Works with and provides guidance to Chairs and Directors to address financial concerns.
- Manages the Dean’s Office annual operating funds from multiple funding sources: annual budget allocation, auxiliary funds, foundations funds. Directly supervises three exempt staff.
- Has primary responsibility for Human Resources matters in the college and serves as administrative lead for college administrative staff. Coordinates staffing support for departments, including resolution of problems on an emergency basis, implementation of longer-term solutions, and continuing assessment of the current staffing structure in the college.
- Approves multiple activities primarily financial transactions for the Dean’s Office.
- Financial analysis and reporting to the Dean and other college and campus constituencies. Reporting to Dean and Assoc Deans, Chairs and Directors, Provost’s Office, and Budget Office.
- Director of Shared Services: responsible for overall oversight and continuing shared services development and growth.
- General oversight at the college level for ensuring compliance with federal, state, USM and UMBC fiscal and administrative policies and procedures.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with five years related experience working in a university/college setting;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
- Excellent interpersonal communications skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduate degree, MBA, or equivalent
- CPA license with seven years progressive experience in a university setting with experience in a unit that deals directly with faculty affairs.

Salary:Salary: $141,000 – $168,500 depending on qualifications and experience.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.
The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
