This position combines faculty teaching responsibilities with administrative oversight of the Hybrid JD and online graduate programs. The Faculty Director of Online JD and Graduate Programs provides academic oversight, operational management, and strategic coordination to ensure quality, effectiveness, and regulatory compliance of these programs.
This position assumes responsibilities previously supported by a third-party vendor, including instructional coordination, faculty support processes, and program oversight. The Faculty Director works collaboratively with law school leadership, faculty, instructional designers, admissions, marketing, and student services to support enrollment, retention, student success, and compliance with ABA Standards and the law school’s ABA Variance. This is a full-time faculty appointment with administrative responsibilities.
Duties/ResponsibilitiesOversight and Faculty Governance (30%)
- Provide academic leadership for the Hybrid JD and online graduate programs.
- Support faculty governance related to online instruction.
- Collaborate with the Dean’s Office on program strategy, curriculum planning, and sequencing.
- Ensure academic rigor, consistency, and alignment with institutional policies and ABA Standards.
- Maintain an active teaching load consistent with faculty workload policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Program Operations and Supervision (30%)
- Oversee academic and operational functions for the Hybrid JD and online graduate programs.
- Supervise instructional designers and the Hybrid JD Program Coordinator.
- Coordinate faculty onboarding, course development, and instructional workflows.
- Assist with program budgeting and resource planning.
- Serve as liaison with institutional partners regarding instructional technology, accessibility, and online operations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Student Experience, Enrollment, and Retention (20%)
- Partner with Admissions, Marketing, Academic Success, and Student Affairs to support recruitment and onboarding.
- Monitor student engagement, academic performance, and progression.
- Develop and support initiatives that enhance student success and retention in hybrid and online programs.
- Analyze enrollment and performance trends to inform program planning.
- Other duties as assigned.
Compliance, Assessment, and Reporting (20%)
- Ensure compliance with ABA Standards, ABA Variance requirements, and institutional policies.
- Monitor instructional delivery requirements, including modality and instructional minutes.
- Support assessment processes, data tracking, and accreditation-related documentation.
- Prepare reports and documentation related to program operations and regulatory requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Experience teaching in legal education or graduate professional programs.
- Experience with online or hybrid instruction.
- Demonstrated experience in academic program leadership, coordination, or administration.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supervising staff or managing academic program operations.
- Experience with instructional design processes and learning management systems (e.g., Canvas).
- Experience with assessment or accreditation documentation.
- Demonstrated leadership in hybrid or online legal education.
Compensation Pay Range:
$110,000 – $125,000
The rank of the selected candidate will depend upon the candidate’s qualifications.
