Responsibilities
The Department of Pathology at the Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine in Mobile is currently recruiting for a full-time faculty member with board certification in anatomic and clinical pathology and a fellowship in OU/Renal pathology. Alabama license is required. This position carries a faculty appointment at the University of South Alabama, rank and salary are commensurate with experience. The Division of Anatomic Pathology handles about 19,000 surgical and 3,500 cytology cases a year and it is expanding rapidly. The Division of Anatomic Pathology serves USA Health University Hospital. USA Health Children’s and Women’s Hospital, and the USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute. The two hospitals are licensed for 630 beds combined. Molecular, immunohistochemistry, and electron microscopy laboratories are part of the sophisticated menu of tests available. The Department has a combined residency-training program in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology with 13 residents.
Mobile is a growing, family-friendly city with a vibrant downtown. ft is centrally located on the Gulf Coast with a temperate climate and low cost of living. There are many cultural and outdoor activities with proximity to rivers and sandy beaches.
