Roxbury Community College (RCC) is a public institution of higher education offering associate degrees, certificate programs and lifelong learning opportunities to the Greater Boston community. Position Summary

The Vice President of Advancement and RCC Foundation serve as the College’s chief advancement officer and campaign executive responsible for the planning, management, execution, and successful implementation of a comprehensive institutional advancement strategy and the College’s $60 million comprehensive campaign.

Serving as the President’s chief partner in philanthropic engagement, the Vice President will co-lead the campaign in collaboration with the President, Foundation Board, Campaign Co-Chairs, and Campaign Leadership Council. Together, they will cultivate and solicit leadership and major donors capable of contributing approximately 80% of campaign revenue from an estimated 20% of campaign donors.

The Vice President also serves as Executive Director of the RCC Foundation and co-chairs the Campaign Leadership Council in partnership with the Chair of the Foundation or Resource Development Committee.

This role is responsible for overseeing fundraising, alumni relations, campaign infrastructure, donor engagement strategy, and advancement operations in alignment with the College’s mission and RCC 2030 Strategic Vision.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Campaign Planning

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive advancement strategy aligned with institutional priorities and RCC 2030.
  • Co-lead the design, launch, implementation, and stewardship of the College’s $60MM comprehensive campaign.
  • Partner with the President, Trustees, Foundation Board, and Campaign Leadership Council to develop strategies for the solicitation of leadership and principal gifts.
  • Develop and maintain a prospective pipeline with total potential giving equal to at least three times the campaign goal.
  • Review and approve all donor cultivation and solicitation strategies prior to implementation.
  • Create prioritized lists of prospective leadership and major donors for cultivation and solicitation.
  • Develop donor recognition frameworks, naming opportunities, and campaign benefit structures.
  • Ensure campaign priorities are aligned with measurable institutional impact.

Fundraising & Major Gift Development

  • Oversee all fundraising programs, including:
    • Major & Principal Gifts
    • Annual Giving
    • Planned Giving
    • Corporate & Foundation Relations
    • Government Funding
    • Capital & Comprehensive Campaigns
  • Personally manage and solicit a portfolio of high-capacity prospects.
  • Conduct a minimum of three (3) major donor visits per week for cultivation, solicitation, or stewardship.
  • Partner with the President, Trustees, and campaign volunteers on joint solicitations.
  • Cultivate trustees, board members, and donors who can facilitate introductions and serve as campaign ambassadors.
  • Secure in-kind gifts and partnerships to offset campaign costs.
  • Cultivate partnerships with corporations, foundation, governmental, and community stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align campaign initiatives with institutional priorities.

Board, Volunteer & Campaign Governance

  • Serve as Executive Director of the RCC Foundation.
  • Co-facilitate Campaign Leadership Council meetings.
  • Engage trustees and foundation directors as campaign advocates and philanthropic leaders.
  • Provide boards and campaign volunteers with donor intelligence and prospective briefings.
  • Address stakeholder questions and concerns regarding campaign priorities.

Advancement Operations & Infrastructure

  • Build advancement infrastructure including:
    • CRM optimization
    • Prospect research systems
    • Donor analytics
    • Stewardship tracking
  • Ensure donor benefits, naming opportunities, and recognition commitments are fulfilled in a timely manner.
  • Record donor engagement and solicitation activity within the institutional database.
  • Review staffing capacity and recommend departmental growth phased to support campaign initiatives.

Financial Oversight & Compliance

  • Develop and manage Advancement and Foundation budgets.
  • Partner with the Chief Financial Officer to reconcile fundraising reports with institutional revenue reporting.
  • Ensure ethical fundraising practices and compliance with state and federal regulations.

Staff Leadership & Organizational Development

  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate advancement staff.
  • Recruit, hire, orient, and train advancement personnel as needed.
  • Provide professional development opportunities aligned with campaign goals.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and equity-centered work environment.

Qualifications

Education

Master’s degree in business administration, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Communications, or related field required.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership in advancement, development, or related field.
  • Demonstrated success in a senior leadership role within a comprehensive fundraising campaign ($30MM+ preferred).
  • Proven track record securing six- and seven-figure gifts.
  • Experience working with presidents, trustees, and foundation boards.

Compensation: $170,000-190,000
