PURPOSE:

Instructor of English.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Excellent organizational and management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders as well as excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Training in composition pedagogy.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting equitable literacy practices and creating inclusive, accessible learning environments for diverse populations.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics

  • Specialization in teaching rhetoric and composition.

Certifications, Licenses, registrations

  • Five years’ experience with or preparation for teaching courses in rhetoric and composition.
  • Record of active research agenda preferred.
  • Masters in English required.
  • Evidence of experience working with underprepared and diverse student population.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Light sedentary office work.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods of standing/walking.
