Job Goal
Provides leadership, assistance, and support to the Dean, Business Innovation and Technology and the Dean, Advanced Manufacturing and Public Safety in the management of these workforce divisions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Demonstrates leadership and management of workforce programs, including initiative in maintaining and improving the quality of instruction.
- Provides program data, reports, and schedules related to workforce programs to the deans.
- Collaborates with program directors and deans in the preparation of performance evaluations for workforce adjunct faculty.
- Assists College officials in resolving faculty and student issues related to workforce programs.
- Assists the deans in the research and development of new programs, industry certifications, and related course offerings relevant to workforce programs.
- Coordinates with academic deans and campus administration on the implementation of programs at instructional sites.
- Collaborates with Pasco and Hernando County school districts on workforce program initiatives and serves as a member of the College’s Dual Enrollment Articulation Steering Committee.
- Establishes and monitors academic standards for workforce programs.
- Reviews and maintains workforce program compliance and accreditation standards.
- Organizes and participates in Technical Advisory Committees and collaborates with community and business partners.
- Assists the deans in the recruitment and selection of workforce program faculty and staff.
- Recommends program textbooks, software, hardware, laboratory equipment, and curriculum changes to the deans after obtaining appropriate faculty input.
- Assists the deans in implementing and monitoring workforce program budgets and identifying equipment needs.
- Monitors workforce program enrollment, retention, and placement rates; submits retention data to the deans and provides recommendations for improvement as needed.
- Provides and monitors the effectiveness of orientation programs for new full-time and part-time faculty.
- Maintains current knowledge by attending state and national meetings of workforce educators and administrators.
- Implements and assesses plans to improve College relations through effective communication and regular site visits to affiliate agencies.
- Advises the deans and the associate vice president of health sciences and workforce of issues and concerns that may have College-wide administrative impact.
- Monitors workforce graduate and employer surveys and provides recommendations to the deans for program improvement as needed.
- Assists College staff in developing, implementing, and evaluating plans and strategies for workforce projects requiring coordination and communication across all PHSC campuses.
- Represents the College and workforce programs when serving on assigned College committees and attending community functions.
- Encourages and supports articulation with K-12, universities, the College’s degree programs, and other educational and community agencies.
- Pursues grants and external funding sources for major workforce program projects and equipment.
- Collaborates with the deans on annual reports, including the Perkins grant.
- Fosters a departmental climate that supports collegiality and the professional development of students, faculty, and staff.
- Collaborates with staff to develop non-credit courses and coordinates with financial aid staff on student scholarship opportunities.
- Coordinates guided workforce pathways between K-12 and the College to create a pipeline for student access to PHSC.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in a workforce discipline from a regionally accredited institution; and
- Background of instruction with a minimum of three (3) years full- or part-time successful teaching experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
- Skill establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other department staff, faculty, students, and the public
- Knowledge of college operational practices, policies, and procedures
- Knowledge of the proper operation of and the ability to use personal computers and job-related software, including Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to multi-task and organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects through completion with an attention to detail
- Work independently in meeting various time deadlines

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Doctoral Degree from a regionally accredited institution
- Three (3) years of post-secondary teaching experience
- Extensive experience in developing and implementing career pathways or career academies in secondary or postsecondary educational institutions.
