Job Description Summary:

The Dean of Dual Enrollment/Early College will report directly to the VP of Dual Enrollment & Continuing Education (VP DE & CE).

The Dean of Dual Enrollment and Early College Programs provides strategic and operational leadership for Del Mar Colleges Dual Enrollment, Early College High School (ECHS), Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH), and early postsecondary programs. The Dean is responsible for expanding access to high-quality dual enrollment opportunities.

The Dean collaborates extensively with the Chief Academic Officer, Deans, Chairs, Student Affairs, Information Technology, Continuing Education and Workforce programs, and K-12 partners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to grow dual enrollment participation.
  • Support the design of stackable credential pathways aligned with workforce and transfer programs.
  • Align programs with TEA Programs of Study, THECB credential of value requirements, HB8 performance funding metrics, and CCMR outcomes.
  • Identify and pursue and assist in the preparation of proposals for grant opportunities to enhance program quality and expansion.
  • Serve on departmental and college committees.
  • Foster collaboration across academic and administrative departments to ensure program effectiveness.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders; VPs, Deans, Chairs, Directors, Faculty.
  • Build strong relationships with external stakeholders; Superintendents, Principals, Counselors.
  • Ex-Officio member of curriculum advisory committees for Credit & CE.
  • Support the compliance of THECBTEA, HB8, CCMRPEIMSSACSCOC, and institutional policies.
  • Maintain Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), audit documentation, and assist with site approvals.
  • Following DMC policy and procedures & adherence to FERPA.
  • Serve as primary liaison to ISDs, charter schools and private schools.
  • Lead data-informed performance reviews with educational partners to establish needs.
  • Support program marketing and engagement initiatives.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for executive leadership and the Board as needed.
  • Partner with student support services to provide resources for student success.
  • In collaboration with department chairs and directors, assist with scheduling, admissions coordination, enrollment processing, and facilitate grade reporting for dual enrollment programs.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor budgets for dual enrollment-related departments.
  • Supervise department personnel.
  • Participate in evening or weekend activities as required to support program and institutional needs.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Masters degree from an accredited institution.

Five (5) years of experience in dual enrollment and related college programming.

Three (3) years of supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Doctorate degree from an accredited institution.

Five (5) years experience in K-12 educational programs.

Experience expanding dual enrollment programs and implementing stackable credential pathways.

Experience with Early College High School (ECHS).

Experience with Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH).

Experience with Early College Programs.

Experience with CCMRPEIMSTEA Programs of Study, and Career Technical education.
