MSW Tenure-Track Faculty Position / Parent Academy Program Director

Position Summary

Mount St. Joseph University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the Master of Social Work (MSW) program who will also serve as Program Director of the Parent Academy. This position integrates faculty responsibilities with program leadership and administration of the Parent Academy , a community-engaged family education initiative delivered in partnership with local Catholic schools.

The Program Director provides leadership for the implementation, facilitation, evaluation, and expansion of the Parent Academy program, while the faculty component contributes to the teaching, service, and scholarship mission of the MSW program.

Position Responsibilities

MSW Faculty Responsibilities

Teaching
* A reduced teaching load to support Parent Academy responsibilities. Position will teach 12 contact hours in the MSW program per academic year. This is an average of two classes per semester.
* Course assignments determined by the MSW Program Director.

Faculty Responsibilities

  • Teaching graduate social work courses, which may be offered in evening and online formats
  • Advising and mentoring students
  • Contributing to the development and enhancement of the social work programs.
  • Providing service to the department, university, and professional community.
  • Engaging in scholarly activities and maintaining active involvement in professional organizations.
  • Fulfilling other duties as assigned to support the mission of the School of Health Sciences and the university.

Parent Academy Program Director

Parent Academy Program Overview

The Parent Academy is a community-engaged initiative of the Department of Social Work at Mount St. Joseph University that partners with Catholic Inner-city Schools Education (CISE) to support families and strengthen educational pathways for students. The program provides an educational experience for parents and caregivers that equips them with knowledge, resources, and strategies to support their child’s academic success, long-term educational planning, and college and career readiness. The mission of the program is to empower parents to actively support their children’s educational journeys while strengthening partnerships between families, schools, and the university.

The Program Director Responsibilities

  • Providing Program Leadership and Facilitation
  • Implementing the curriculum based on family needs
  • Coordinating program logistics
  • Conducting program evaluation and research
  • Providing outreach to the funders and the community
  • Supervising staff and students

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Education
* Master of Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program
* Minimum of two years post-MSW professional experience
* Terminal degree required: DSW, PhD, EdD, or related doctoral degree in social work or a closely related discipline

Required:
* Minimum three years of leadership experience
* Demonstrated experience teaching in higher education
* Experience facilitating groups, community programs, or educational workshops
* Experience working with families, schools, or community-based programs

Availability to teach on a flexible schedule (evenings, weekends, online)

Preferred:

  • Five years of social work experience.
  • Social work licensure
  • Commitment to student-centered pedagogy, engaged learning, and social justice
  • Experience working with historically marginalized and/or first-generation college students
