Position Summary

Vincennes University is seeking a dynamic and student-focused Information Technology faculty member. This full-time position is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction across multiple IT disciplines, including Networking, Cybersecurity, Programming, and Information Technology.

The faculty member will teach a standard load of 15 credit hours per semester, including day, evening, and occasional weekend courses. This role emphasizes hands-on, career-aligned instruction designed to prepare students for industry certifications and workforce readiness.

  • Deliver engaging, student-centered instruction that promotes active learning and student success
  • Develop and maintain curriculum aligned with industry standards and workforce needs
  • Integrate hands-on labs, real-world scenarios, and emerging technologies into coursework
  • Stay current with advancements in IT, cybersecurity, and related fields
  • Advise and mentor students within the Information Technology programs
  • Participate in departmental, divisional, and institutional committees and initiatives
  • Support recruitment, retention, and dual credit program efforts
  • Contribute to institutional assessment processes and continuous improvement efforts
  • Align coursework with recognized frameworks (e.g., NICE/NIST) and accreditation standards

  • Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited institution, OR a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with demonstrated progress toward a Master’s degree, which must be completed within 6 months of hire
  • Credentialing must meet Higher Learning Commission (HLC) faculty qualification guidelines, including appropriate academic preparation in the teaching discipline (minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the field where applicable)
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco, cybersecurity certifications) or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of industry experience in Information Technology or Cybersecurity
  • Strong knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
    • Operating Systems (Windows/Linux)
    • Networking (LAN/WAN, routing & switching)
    • Cybersecurity principles, risk management, and policy
    • Enterprise IT environments and infrastructure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and adapt to evolving technologies
  • Commitment to student success and a community college teaching philosophy

  • Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
  • Teaching experience in higher education or technical training environments
  • Experience with cybersecurity frameworks and compliance standards
  • Cisco Instructor certification or similar credentials
  • Experience in incident response, risk mitigation, or enterprise security operations

  • Standard classroom and office environment
  • Ability to use instructional technology and lab equipment
  • Occasional standing, walking, and extended computer use
