The Pittsburg State University Department of Teaching and Leadership is accepting applications for an Assistant Instructional Professor of Elementary Education.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in elementary education with a focus in special education
  • Deliver course content in-person on campus
  • Mentor students and support their academic and professional growth
  • Actively engage in professional organizations
  • Contribute service to the college and community
  • Foster student success and promote a positive learning environment

Education and Experience

Required Education and Experience – Time of Hire

  • Master’s degree or higher in special education.
  • Current licensure in special education
  • Three or more years of successful PreK-12 special education teaching in an accredited school or equivalent setting.
  • Three years of experience with individuals with high- and/or low-incidence learning needs.

Candidate’s must hold a Master’s degree in special education discipline or related field. This degree requirement is necessary for accreditation purposes and to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level.

Preferred Education and Experience –

  • One year college level teaching experience
  • Three years elementary teaching experience (preK-6)

Job Type: Unclassified, Faculty, Non-Tenure Earning, Renewable Annually

Salary: $52,000 annually
