Teaching Fellow in the Professions of Education Department (Educational Leadership)

Start Date: Fall 2026

Schreiner University invites applications for a Teaching Fellow in the Professions of Education beginning in Fall 2026. This full-time, non–tenure track position is ideal for emerging educators who are committed to high-quality undergraduate teaching and who wish to develop professionally within a supportive academic environment. The program offers 2–3 year fixed-term appointments with the opportunity to transition to tenure-track for talented educators. Consideration for transition to tenure-track is based on teaching performance, curriculum contributions, terminal degree requirements, and institutional needs. Fellows will carry a 30-credit hour annual teaching load and participate in a mandatory 4-week summer faculty development institute at the end of each academic year.

Teaching Fellows at Schreiner University:

  • Teach undergraduate courses while receiving structured mentorship from senior faculty.
  • Gain experience in course design, assessment, classroom management, and Canvas LMS.
  • Participate in required summer professional This may include workshops on teaching strategies, curriculum development, and student engagement.
  • Receive ongoing feedback through peer observations, teaching evaluations, and consultations.
  • Build a professional teaching portfolio to support future academic or industry advancement.
  • Contribute to departmental initiatives and program growth in Education.

This position is especially suitable for candidates who are ABD, pursuing a doctoral degree, or planning to begin doctoral study, as it provides hands-on teaching experience and structured faculty development.

Teaching & Academic Responsibilities

  • Teach courses within the Professions of Education curriculum.
  • Implement experiential learning strategies, including industry projects, event planning, case studies, and applied assignments.
  • Create effective, inclusive, and engaging instructional materials aligned with program learning outcomes.
  • Contribute to program assessment and curriculum improvements.
  • Utilize Canvas and instructional technology to support student learning.

Student Mentoring & Advising

  • Mentor and guide students pursuing careers in Education and Educational Leadership.
  • Support students with professional development, including resume building, networking, graduate school interests, and internship preparation.

Professional Development & Institutional Engagement

Teaching Fellows are expected to:

  • Participate in summer faculty development at the end of each academic year.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development during each year of the fellowship
  • Stay current in Education, teaching strategies, student engagement and Educational Leadership research.
  • Collaborate with faculty on program initiatives, community partnerships, and/or student recruitment efforts.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Doctoral degree in Education, Educational Leadership or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated potential for strong undergraduate and online graduate teaching.
  • Experience in teaching and instructional/ educational leadership.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to student success and inclusive pedagogy.
  • Commitment to professional development.

Preferred:

  • College-level teaching or teaching-assistant experience.
  • Familiarity with Canvas LMS and high-impact teaching practices.
  • Interest in contributing to program growth and student engagement activities.

Contract & Evaluation

  • 2-3 year non-renewable contract unless transitioning to tenure-track, with performance reviews and opportunities for extension.
  • 10-month contract, including summer institute
  • Annual reviews based on student feedback, peer observations, and teaching portfolios.
  • Active participation in university-wide teaching initiatives and mentoring
