Advertised Job Summary
The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of South Carolina Beaufort (USCB) invites applications for a dynamic and student-centered Instructor of Psychology to join our growing academic community. This is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track appointment beginning August 16, 2026, with the possibility of renewal.
USCB seeks an engaging educator who is passionate about undergraduate teaching and committed to fostering an inclusive, high-impact learning environment. The successful candidate will teach a 5/5 course load, delivering a mix of face-to-face and online courses. Teaching responsibilities include foundational courses in the psychology curriculum as well as upper-level electives aligned with the candidate’s expertise and program needs.
Beyond the classroom, this role offers the opportunity to meaningfully contribute to student success through academic advising and active participation in departmental and university service. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to mentorship, collaboration, and innovative teaching practices that support a diverse student population.
USCB offers a collaborative campus culture, small class sizes, and a strong emphasis on teaching excellence. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Required Education and Experience
The successful candidate must possess:
- An earned Master’s degree in Psychology or a closely related field, or a master’s degree in another discipline with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Psychology.
- Candidates must have a minimum of three years of experience teaching undergraduate psychology courses and must demonstrate evidence of effective teaching in both face-to-face and online modalities.
- A strong commitment to high-quality undergraduate instruction is required
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching a range of undergraduate psychology courses, including both core and upper-level offerings, and whose areas of expertise complement departmental needs. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate education and student success, as well as the ability to effectively engage and support an increasingly diverse student population.
