Position Summary

Southern Utah University, located in Cedar City, Utah, seeks two (2) Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Economics.

Essential Functions

Duties:
Teach economics in a permanent, tenure-track position. Teach 3 courses per semester in both a face-to-face and online environment. Teach all levels of lower-and upper-division courses in Economics (which includes courses in Principles of Economics (Micro and Macro), Quantitative Methods, Managerial Economics, and Econometrics). Meet scholarly or professional engagement requirements as needed to maintain AACSB qualifications as a Scholarly Academic according to the School of Business AACSB Faculty Qualification Policy. Publish in relevant peer- reviewed journals and present at academic conferences. Engage with and mentor students, including advising undergraduate and graduate students on research projects, careers, and graduate educational opportunities in Economics. Assist in recruitment and placement. Assume an active role in the planning and governance of the institution through service on department, school, and campus-wide committees.

Education & Experience

Requirements:
Ph.D. in Economics or in a closely related field. ABD accepted. Foreign equivalent degree accepted. Demonstrable ability to teach economics at the university in a face-to-face and online environment. Demonstrable ability to engage with students in co- and extra-curricular activities. Empirical (using R and STATA) and theoretical economics research.
