Position Description
Georgia State University College of Law seeks highly qualified applicants for a full-time non-tenure track Professor of Practice to teach in the Externship Program beginning in July 2026. The Professor Practice is a twelve-month faculty position. We are seeking applicants who have a passion for experiential learning, specifically the desire to help law students navigate externships in furtherance of their professional and educational goals.
Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
* Sharing responsibility for teaching the externship seminar;
* Engaging with students in one-on-one meetings and the classroom environment to foster their learning and development;
* Advising and guiding students on selecting externship placements and navigating challenges that may arise during their externships;
* Conducting externship site visits as needed;
* Performing administrative responsibilities associated with the Externship Program;
* Teaching and supervising externs in the summer semester;
* Participating in meetings of and supervisor training CLE programs given by the Georgia Association of Legal Externships;

Required Experience
3+ years relevant post-J.D. legal experience.
Required Education
Applicants should have a Juris Doctor (J.D.), Doctor of the Science of Law (J.S.D.), Doctor of Judicial Science (S.J.D.), LL.M. (Master of Laws), or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from an ABA-accredited law school at the time of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
- 1-2 years of successful teaching experience (including law classes or legal trainings);
- Strong oral and written communication skills;
- Excellent experience in legal practice and lawyering skills;
- Experience advising or working with law students or entry-level attorneys; and
- A strong academic

Salary: $70,000 – $85,000
