Essential Functions
The Associate Vice President (AVP) of Student Affairs & Enrollment Management serves as an administrative leader responsible for providing strategic leadership, oversight, and coordination of student services and enrollment management departments and initiatives across Coastal Bend College. The AVP supports institutional goals related to enrollment growth, persistence, completion, and student success while fostering a student-centered culture aligned with the College’s mission and strategic priorities.
The AVP provides leadership for key enrollment and student affairs functions, develops and implements innovative strategies to enhance the student experience, and collaborates across divisions to promote student achievement from recruitment through graduation. The AVP serves on the Student Affairs and Enrollment Management leadership team and may act on behalf of the Vice President in the Vice President’s absence.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and implementation of the College’s Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) Plan.
- Utilize enrollment data, student success metrics, and demographic trends to identify opportunities and recommend strategies that improve recruitment, persistence, and completion.
- Monitor enrollment performance indicators and prepare reports for executive leadership and the Board of Trustees.
- Provide leadership and oversight of student services and enrollment departments.
- Promote a comprehensive student development model that supports student engagement, wellness, belonging, leadership development, and academic success.
- Develop, implement, and monitor retention and intervention strategies designed to improve student persistence and completion.
- Support initiatives addressing basic needs, mental health, emergency aid, accessibility, student well-being, and student support services.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, including FERPA, Title IX, ADA, etc.
- Assist in the development and review of Board Policies, Administrative Procedures, Student Handbooks, and departmental operating procedures.
- Monitor student success metrics and recommend improvements based on assessment results and best practices.
- Supervise assigned directors and coordinators
- Oversee student conduct processes, appeals, and behavioral intervention efforts.
- Participate in institutional committees, task forces, and campus-wide initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of contemporary enrollment management and student affairs best practices.
- Knowledge of student development theory and student success strategies.

- Ability to analyze and interpret data for strategic decision-making.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships across departments and communities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Enrollment Management CRMs, database systems, and enterprise software platforms; demonstrates integrity and security in all digital operations.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree required; Doctorate preferred in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Educational Leadership, Counseling, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in student affairs or enrollment management.
- Knowledge of student affairs and enrollment services functions.
- Experience supervising professional staff and managing budgets
- Knowledge of student support services, crisis intervention techniques, and student conduct processes
- Familiarity with college student learning and development theories
- Ability to respond effectively in emergency and crisis situations

Travel Requirements
Travel to other CBC campuses or off-site locations for meetings and conferences may be required. Employee must have a valid driver’s license and maintain current auto insurance.
Work Environment
Work is generally performed in an office setting with frequent interruptions and changes in the workflow and priorities. Position may require evening and weekend hours or outdoor activities for CBC events.
