Job Title: Assistant Vice President, Impact Learning
Status: Exempt, Full-time
Wage Grade: 770
Reports To: Executive Vice President for Strategy and Innovation
Overview: The Assistant Vice President for Impact Learning leads campus-wide efforts to integrate hands-on, experiential learning with student success, global awareness career readiness, and civic engagement to ensure every Augustana student participates in a high- impact experience designed to provide a competitive advantage for post-graduate success. Guided by Augustana’s strategic goals of prioritizing engaged learning, maximizing student potential and expanding partnerships with our surrounding communities, the AVP will work with internal and external collaborators to create meaningful pathways for students and build scaffolded opportunities for realizing vocational and leadership interests.
The AVP will work with faculty and staff to envision, build, and implement engaged learning opportunities in both curricular and co-curricular settings. This role champions strategies that integrate engaged learning directly into the curriculum to boost career readiness and student success, and will work closely with the Center for Engaged Learning, Teaching, and Scholarship in supporting curricular innovations that prioritize engaged
learning.

Job Duties:
- Strategic Vision & Leadership: Lead the development and execution of Augustana’s institutional strategy for prioritizing experiential and engaged learning. Ensure the programming aligns with institutional goals, workforce trends, and student retention efforts.
- Curriculum Integration: Collaborate with academic leaders, department chairs, and faculty to embed hands-on learning, design thinking, and practical application of knowledge into academic programs.
- Partnership Development: Cultivate and sustain relationships with industry and non-profit leaders, employers, alumni, and community organizations to expand access to high-quality internships and project-based learning.
- Programmatic Oversight: Oversee centrally administered offices, including undergraduate research centers, career services, global/study-away programs, and the QC Lab.
- Equity & Accessibility: Remove financial, logistical, and systemic barriers so that all student populations-especially underrepresented, first-generation and international students-can equally access high-impact experiences leading to career opportunities.
- Assessment & Analytics: Establish metrics to track student participation and measure the impact of experiential learning on academic outcomes (e.g., graduation rates, post-graduate career success rates).
- Resource Management: Partner with the Office of College Advancement to identify and secure funding through grants, donor stewardship, and strategic budget allocation to ensure the long-term financial sustainability of experiential initiatives.
Education: Master’s degree or equivalent
Experience & Skills:
- A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive, senior-level leadership experience in higher education, supervision of a diverse team and experience in a complex work environment.
- Deep understanding of pedagogical trends in experiential learning and the relationship to career readiness.
- Proven ability to build cross-sector partnerships and engage with external stakeholders.
- Highly engaged and collaborative team builder.
- Big picture innovator capable of developing/supporting distinctive engaged learning programs.
- Strong background in strategic planning, budget management, and data-informed assessment.
- Ability to build internal and external partnerships and network effectively.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 10 pounds on a frequent basis. Also required is the ability to listen, hear, speak, read, climb stairs, bend, stoop, and stand for intermittently long periods of time. Must be able to use a computer to accomplish a variety of job tasks.
Pay and Benefits: This position is budgeted to pay $96,500 to $104,000 annually based upon skills, experience and abilities.
