Tidewater Community College (TCC) invites applications and nominations for the role of Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA). Reporting directly to the College President and serving on the President’s Cabinet, the VPAA will bring strong academic leadership and a national awareness of emerging trends and best practices in community college education. The VPAA will have a proven track record of working with faculty, fostering innovation, and advancing student success.
TCC has served South Hampton Roads for 50 years. It has grown from 1 campus into a regional educational and economic force. TCC is the largest provider of higher education and workforce services in Hampton Roads, enrolling nearly 25,000 students in 2024-25. Founded in 1968 as part of the Virginia Community College System, TCC serves South Hampton Roads with 4 campuses in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach, 7 regional centers, and 2 important cultural institutions. Of South Hampton Roads residents enrolled in higher education, 33% enrolled at TCC.
The Vice President for Academic Affairs serves as the college’s Chief Academic Officer, providing visionary leadership to advance innovative, high-quality educational programs. This role fosters a culture of creativity and continuous improvement at TCC, ensuring academic offerings remain forward-thinking and responsive to evolving student and workforce needs. The VPAA oversees all credit-bearing programs and services, including academic departments, distance learning, and libraries, with a focus on integrating innovative practices that enhance access, engagement, and student success.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The salary range for this role is $175,000 – $225,000 with a generous benefits package.
