Goodwin University seeks a visionary Dean of the School of Nursing and Health Professions (SNHP) who creates a pervasive culture of transformation and agile delivery, leveraging the school’s human and fiscal capital to boldly implement new programs, improve quality, and build on the evolving needs of the healthcare workforce, positioning Goodwin as a regional and national school of importance.

The Dean will serve in a staff-designated capacity to provide oversight for undergraduate and graduate programs with anticipated growth to meet regional healthcare demands. The Dean will also serve as the Chief Nursing Administrator/Officer.

Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities:

  • As a member of the Provost’s Leadership Team the Dean reports to the Provost and provides service-centered, proactive, and dynamic leadership in collaboration with other Deans and departments at the institution.
  • The Dean also aligns the SNHP’s academic agenda with the University’s strategic goals to ensure continued success and sustainable growth.
  • With dedicated mentorship and inclusivity the Dean of SNHP translates vision and strategy to actionable plans that advance current and new academic programs.
  • The Dean strategically collaborates with schools within the University on multidisciplinary initiatives of meaningful societal and economic impact, to enlarge the academic landscape.
  • In this transformative journey, over the next few years, the Dean is also expected to sustain the growth of SNHP, by being a skillful steward of resources, producing a diverse and culturally competent healthcare workforce.
  • The Dean will display deep commitment to students, faculty, community and healthcare professions by extending the School of Nursing’s network of external partnerships with healthcare providers for clinical placements, collaborative research and outreach efforts.
  • The Dean of the SNHP is responsible for strategy, operations and the day to day operations of the school.
  • The Dean will be responsible for the supervision of all SNHP, programs, directors, faculty, staff and students.
  • The Dean is responsible for program development in the school with specific skill in shaping the quality of Nursing programs with NCLEX pass rates, and success with all SNHP programs and accreditations.

  • Experience and knowledge of work in a career-oriented university setting
  • Knowledge, experience, and commitment to Universal Design for Learning (UDL)

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Earned Doctorate in Nursing from an accredited institution, or, an Ed.D. with significant and relevant professional experience is required.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in progressively responsible leadership positions is required.
  • Professional certification and/or licensure in Nursing is required.
  • Administrative experience as department chair, associate dean or equivalent level with involvement in fiscal planning & budgets, ability to lead and manage faculty, a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, leadership and participation in shared governance.
