Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Associate Dean at the School of Nursing and Midwifery.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Dean, School of Nursing & Midwifery, you will be responsible for:

  • provide strategic oversight of all undergraduate nursing and midwifery programmes, ensuring curricula and teaching modalities are inclusive, culturally responsive, and of the highest quality
  • provide academic leadership in curriculum development, review, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement, ensuring alignment with best practices in nursing education and evolving population healthcare needs
  • lead excellence in classroom, clinical, simulation-based, and digital learning by adopting innovative teaching methodologies and emerging educational technologies
  • ensure compliance with national and international accrediting and regulatory requirements, benchmarked quality standards, and quality assurance recommendations related to undergraduate education
  • develop strategies to strengthen student recruitment, sustain enrolment, promote student engagement in university-wide activities, and support students’ academic progress, appeals, and grievances
  • conduct educational audits of clinical placement sites and collaborate with AKU Health Systems Nursing Education Services to ensure high-quality clinical learning experiences for undergraduate students and nursing interns
  • promote evidence-based clinical practice and innovative research approaches within undergraduate education
  • oversee the planning, implementation, and budgeting of strategic initiatives related to undergraduate education, including the implementation of the Teaching and Learning Strategy
  • oversee faculty performance appraisals, provide feedback on instructional activities and course documentation, and ensure continuous improvement in faculty performance
  • mentor and support the professional growth of faculty and students through career guidance, faculty development programmes, leadership training, and succession planning
  • promote faculty engagement in nurse-led clinical practice initiatives
  • represent the School at university, national, and international committees and forums, and serve as a liaison with accrediting bodies and external stakeholders
  • actively seek research funding and conduct research while teaching and supervising the research of our Master’s and PhD students
  • work closely with the Dean to develop new undergraduate programmes and advance fundraising initiatives, collaborations, and strategic partnerships that support undergraduate education.

Requirements:

You should have:

  • a PhD or other doctoral degree in Nursing or a related healthcare discipline
  • eligibility for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or above
  • demonstrated leadership experience in nursing education, curriculum development, academic administration, and faculty development
  • knowledge of accreditation standards and regulatory requirements for nursing and midwifery education, preferably in Pakistan
  • a strong record of educational innovation, research, and securing external funding
  • excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement skills.
