Primary Duties and Job Responsibilities

The area of specialization/certification that will be given preference for this position in the hospitality and tourism industry with knowledge of hospitality and tourism practice and management. Preference also given to those with experience in culinary operations, food & beverage production and management. The candidate will be expected to teach in undergraduate and graduate courses offered in the College. As all Belmont undergraduates complete an innovative general education program with significant interdisciplinary components, Belmont University is particularly seeking applicants who can demonstrate the interest and ability to work collaboratively in course design and to teach interdisciplinary and topical courses in this program.

Application Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of principles, methods and current developments in the field of study.
  • Knowledge of subject matter and course content taught.
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques.
  • Demonstrated capacity to engage in high-quality scholarly activity.
  • Demonstrated ability to advise, instruct, manage, motivate and evaluate students.
  • Ability to integrate technology into the teaching and learning process.
  • Ability to successfully interact with students, other educators and educational institution representatives, and the general public in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of the programs and services offered by Belmont University.
  • Interest and ability to work collaboratively in course design and to teach interdisciplinary and topical courses.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ServSafe (or similar) certification.
  • Teaching experience strongly preferred.
  • Evidence of scholarly achievements in area of expertise preferably in culinary and/or food & beverage management.
  • Experience delivering, developing applied experience courses and/or culinary/food & beverage training programs.

Required EducationPh. D. or progress toward a terminal degree is required.
