Join Utah Valley University’s Woodbury School of Business and help shape the future of business education in a pioneering program. This one-year non-tenure track Lecturer position offers a unique opportunity to teach in the nation’s first undergraduate degree in Strategic Foresight and Business, preparing students to navigate uncertainty, technological change, and emerging opportunities. Faculty in this program engage with innovative topics such as future-oriented strategy, applied foresight, and AI-enabled decision-making while mentoring students through hands-on, real-world projects that connect classroom learning with industry needs. Summary of Responsibilities
- Teaching Responsibility: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in areas such as: Strategic Foresight Strategy Formulation and Implementation Strategic Management Global Strategy Business Analytics for Strategic Decision-Making AI-enabled Strategy and Emerging Technologies Employ experiential and applied pedagogies, including: Scenario planning Simulations Case-based learning Industry-engaged projects Contribute to curriculum development for the Strategic Foresight and Business program
- Mentoring Responsibility . Mentor and advise students in applied research, consulting and capstone projects . Contribute to program development, assessment, and continuous improvement
- Service Responsibilities âEUR¢ Participate in department, college, and university service âEUR¢ Support community and industry engagement consistent with the mission of the Woodbury School of Business âEUR¢ Engage professionally through academic associations, conferences, or outreach activities
- Professional Development and Applied Scholarship Responsibility Maintain current expertise in strategic foresight, strategy, business analytics, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies. Engage in professional development activities that strengthen teaching effectiveness and disciplinary expertise. Develop applied research, instructional materials, cases, simulations, or other scholarly products that support the Strategic Foresight and Business program. Participate in conferences, workshops, professional associations, and industry activities relevant to assigned teaching areas. Incorporate emerging business practices, technologies, and industry trends into courses and curriculum.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
- Earned master’s degree in Business Strategy, Strategic Foresight, Operations Management, Business Analytics, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching at the college or university level.
- Evidence of the ability to use experiential and applied learning approaches, such as case-based instruction, simulations, consulting projects, or industry-engaged learning.
- Demonstrated ability to teach in one or more of the following areas: strategy, strategic foresight, business analytics, operations, emerging technologies, or related business disciplines.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and student-engagement skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Research focus or professional expertise in strategic foresight, futures studies, or AI-enabled strategy
- Experience integrating artificial intelligence, data analytics, or emerging technologies into teaching or research
- Background in consulting, industry strategy, or applied research
- Experience teaching in AACSB-accredited or aspirational business programs
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to program growth and innovation
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Knowledge
- Strategic foresight methodologies, including trend analysis, scenario planning, and futures research.
- Strategy formulation and implementation across domestic and global contexts.
- Integration of emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence– into business strategy.
Skills
- Arti?cial Intelligence prompting and applied AI work?ows, including:
- Designing structured prompts for strategic analysis
- Using generative AI to support foresight, forecasting, and scenario modeling
- Translating foresight theory into applied consulting and strategy projects.
- Designing experiential, interdisciplinary learning environments.
- Strong written, verbal, and collaborative communication skills.
- Teaching ethical and responsible AI use in business contexts
Abilities
- Ability to synthesize data, trends, and qualitative insights into actionable strategy.
- Ability to teach across lecture, case, simulation, and project-based formats.
- Ability to integrate ?nance, operations, marketing, analytics, and technology into foresight-driven strategy.
- Ability to mentor students in uncertain, ambiguous, and rapidly changing environments.
