Job description
Stark State College is seeking a dedicated and student-focused full-time Instructor of Social Science (Instructor of Psychology) to join us in the upcoming spring semester. The ideal candidate will teach a range of psychology courses, contribute to curriculum development, and support student success through innovative and instruction. The successful candidate will contribute to the college’s commitment to academic excellence, student success, and community engagement. This position is a full-time, year-round, 180-day contract position starting in January 2026.
Typical Hours/Days of Work: Varied with each semester due to courses and office hours. Teaching assignments may include day, evening, weekend, satellite and/or online courses.
Location: Our faculty have the opportunity to instruct in North Canton and Akron Campus as well as online.
Pay: $44,686 – $58,091/annually. This is a 180-day contract position, with compensation commensurate with experience.

Typical Responsibilities Include:
- Prepare and deliver engaging and effective instruction in various courses and demonstrate effective communication skills.
- Foster collaborative learning environment.
- Implement innovative teaching methodologies and integrate technology to enhance the learning experience.
- Contribute to curriculum development and assessment activities.
- Provide academic advising various courses as outlined within the department.
- Assist with department activities to promote the success of Stark State College.
To be Considered You’ll Need:
- A Master’s Degree in Psychology or related field OR a Master’s Degree (any discipline) and 18 graduate credit hours in Psychology/related field required.
- Candidate will be expected to possess a high level of proficiency in the English language. This proficiency is essential for effective communication, instruction, and interaction with students and colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications (although not required):
Previous teaching experience at the college level is preferred.
