Position Summary:
The Department of Health, Nutrition & Exercise Science in the School of Science, Engineering & Health at Messiah University invites applications for a faculty position in Applied Health Science beginning August 1, 2027.
Responsibilities:
Teach undergraduate courses in the Applied Health Science major such as Concepts of Holistic Wellness, Chronic Disease and Exercise, Kinesiology, Exercise Testing and Prescription, and Stress Testing and ECG Interpretation. Teaching responsibilities may also include Wellness courses, major courses in other Health, Nutrition, and Exercise Science majors, and major courses in other departments, based on the candidate’s expertise. The successful candidate will engage in scholarship, service, and student advisement.
Qualifications:
Successful candidates for hire into a Term-Tenure Track position must have or be securing a PhD in Exercise Science or a related field. Candidates must demonstrate evidence and/or the potential for strong classroom teaching and a commitment to pursuing their ongoing scholarship in partnership with students.
The Program:
Messiah University’s Department of Health, Nutrition, and Exercise Science offers a Bachelor of Science in Applied Health Science and is one of the largest majors on campus. Applied Health Science features Exercise Science, Pre-Professional, Pre-Physical Therapy, Pre-Occupational Therapy, and Pre-Athletic Training concentrations.
The Department:
The Department of Health, Nutrition, and Exercise Science at Messiah University includes majors in Applied Health Science, Nutrition and Dietetics, and Health and Physical Education with pathways to Messiah University graduate degrees in Physical Therapy (DPT), Occupational Therapy (MOT), Nutrition and Dietetics (MS/DI), and Athletic Training (MSAT). There are six full-time faculty and dedicated research and teaching laboratories. Our faculty guide our students as they learn to interpret and apply scientific evidence in the areas of exercise and health, integrate their faith with their academic interests, and develop stewardship of their talents.

Compensation: Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
