Salary offers at Syracuse University will be based on education, experience, and relevant skills, as well as the academic or professional discipline of the position in the context of the home department, school, or college. Salary offers may also be influenced by prior relevant work or industry experience, where applicable. Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months’ salary unless otherwise specified.

Job Description:

The Department of Economics in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in econometrics. We seek candidates who combine methodological depth in econometrics with a strong research interest in applied microeconomics (e.g., urban, industrial organization, labor, education, health, or public), applying modern econometric tools to policy-relevant questions.

The Department of Economics has a national reputation for excellence in applied microeconomic research and econometrics, and offers B.A., B.S., M.A., Ph. D., and combined degree programs. It is housed within the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, and we seek candidates with interdisciplinary interests. Successful candidates may be invited to affiliate with one of Maxwell’s fourteen interdisciplinary research centers and institutes.

Qualifications:

Candidates must have completed, or expect to complete prior to appointment, a Ph. D. in Economics or a closely related field. They should show clear promise of a research record warranting a tenure-track appointment in economics and should demonstrate the ability to teach econometrics at the graduate level.

Job Specific Qualifications:

Responsibilities:

• The successful candidate will teach graduate and undergraduate courses in econometrics, together with courses in their areas of expertise in applied microeconomics and will have a teaching load appropriate for a productive scholar.
• They will be expected to advise doctoral dissertations and to serve on doctoral committees and comprehensive examination committees.
• They will maintain an independent and externally visible research program in econometrics and publish in leading peer-reviewed economics journals, including those specializing in econometrics and statistics.
