Position Description:We are hiring someone at the Assistant Professor level who specializes in the work of Martin Heidegger.

We are interested in a scholar with expertise across the Heideggerian corpus, who will contribute to our general departmental focus on Continental Philosophy. We are seeking someone who can effectively place Heidegger in conversation with, and complement our existing strengths in, one or more of these areas: Latin American philosophy, ethics, political philosophy, psychoanalysis, phenomenology, and the history of philosophy.

Our Philosophy Department currently has 15 members and offers the B.A., M.A., and Ph. D. degrees. Candidates must have a demonstrable proficiency in relevant languages and will be expected to teach in DePaul’s Liberal Studies Program/First-Year Program, Opportunities also exist to work with DePaul’s many programs and institutes, such as the Women’s and Gender Studies Program, the Institute for Business and Professional Ethics, the Comparative Literature Program, the Center for Latino Research, the Chinese Studies Program, and the African and Black Diaspora Studies Program.

Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph. D., but advanced ABDs will be considered if degree conferral is expected by the start date..

About DePaul University’s Academic Calendar
Except for the College of Law, DePaul University operates on a quarter system. Classes in Autumn, Winter, and Spring quarters are 11 weeks in length (including finals week) and Summer courses, in two sessions, are typically 5 weeks in length. The College of Law operates on the semester system. Classes in the Fall and Spring semesters are 16 weeks in length (including finals week) and it offers a Summer Session of 7 weeks (including final exams).

Salary Information: The salary range for this 10-month position is $69,600 – $73,150, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
