What you’ll do on a typical day
This full-time faculty/program director position is a nine-month position with additional summer duties and compensation, requiring a presence on campus with the faculty member’s primary efforts focused on teaching and learning, academic excellence and student success. Primary responsibilities include designing and implementing learning strategies for students in the Social and Human Services Program. The position includes additional duties that provide program leadership and support program health. This position reports directly to the Dean, Academic Online Programs. Davidson-Davie faculty members have the following responsibilities including, but not limited to:
- Promote Davidson-Davie mission, vision and values
- Teach assigned courses at various locations to meet program needs, including, but not limited to day, evening, weekend, and online
- Ensure that each class session contains essential curricular components, has appropriate content and pedagogy, and maintains currency
- Evaluate student progress and provide appropriate, timely feedback
- Provide and/or facilitate quality experiences in the learning environment(s) to meet program needs
- Develop course syllabi and provide appropriate written information to students concerning course evaluation and criteria
- Incorporate appropriate instructional technology to enhance student learning
- Assist in the evaluation of courses and programs
- Prepare and submit instructional records, reports and grades established by institutional policy.
- Participate in professional development to enhance instructional and technical skills
- Attend appropriate internal and external meetings
- Assist in student recruitment and retention
- Maintain accessibility to students, faculty and staff
- Maintain a high level of sensitivity, understanding, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Perform other tasks as assigned which support the mission and initiatives of the College.
Program Director responsibilities include: Program Planning and Curriculum Development
- Align academic or workforce programs with institutional goals, industry standards, accreditation requirements (when relevant) and community needs.
- Assist with scheduling and course offerings to ensure timely completion pathways for students.
- Track and analyze program data, including enrollment, completion rates, and student outcomes, to inform decision-making, program review processes, and continuous improvement.
- Assist in the development of new courses and programs based on emerging trends and labor market demand. Support and Engagement
- Serve as the main point of contact for students regarding program requirements, career pathways, and academic progress.
- Maintain relationships with local employers, advisory boards, and community partners to align program outcomes with workforce needs.
- Engage in events, workshops, and initiatives that promote the program and engage stakeholders. Accreditation and Compliance (when relevant)
- Ensure program compliance with relevant state, federal, and accreditation regulations.
- Prepare and submit reports and documentation for internal and external audits or evaluations.
Your attributes
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in related discipline such as Clinical Mental Health, Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work
- Professional experience in a Human Services or related behavioral health setting (e.g., clinical support, case management, counseling, advocacy, or community-based services)
- Community college teaching experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Second teaching field (requires 18 graduate credit hours in a second field)
- Minimum of two years of work experience in Human Services or a related behavioral health setting
- Experience teaching topics related to child maltreatment, child advocacy, and trauma-informed practices
- Experience with curriculum development and instructional design, with a focus on aligning outcomes to workforce needs
- Proficiency in using Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas) to deliver course content
- Experience teaching in multiple instructional formats, including online, virtual, and face-to-face modalities
