Essential Job Duties:
The Department of World Languages & Cultures at NC State University seeks applicants with demonstrable teaching excellence and ongoing commitment to undergraduate Greek and Latin language instruction as well as the ability to teach courses in classical literature and culture in translation. We especially seek applicants who are interested in developing innovative pedagogical strategies and reimagining the goals and methods of Classical Studies to embrace the needs and concerns of students across a broad range of majors in a large, land-grant state institution. The teaching load is 4/4, with a variety of in-person and asynchronous online courses. The ideal candidate will also be qualified to help with recently implemented courses and study abroad programs in Italy and Greece, assist with plans for secondary Latin education in North Carolina, and develop stronger ties with the Greek community in the Triangle.
Minimum Experience/Education:
Applicant must have a PhD in Classical Studies or a related field.
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated teaching excellence, as well as innovation both in and outside of the classroom.
- Strong commitment to innovative teaching is expected.
- Excellent communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching experience in Latin/Greek/Classical Studies at the university level
