OVERVIEW

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Graduate School of Professional Psychology (GSPP) at the University of St. Thomas invites applications for a tenure-track faculty member.

The position is a full-time, 9-month position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning September 1, 2027. The GSPP welcomes candidates who are committed to the mission of the college, which centers on health equity and social justice, being in solidarity with underrepresented and marginalized populations, and creating a culture of belonging. We are particularly interested in applicants with professional experience in assessment and intervention across the lifespan. We welcome applications from candidates from a variety of specialties, particularly when their expertise complements existing curriculum and creates new opportunities for students. Teaching responsibilities may vary depending upon the candidate’s backgrounds and interests, and could include coursework in any or all of the following areas: Introductory, Advanced, or Developmental Psychopathology, Lifespan Development, Child & Adolescent Assessment and Intervention, Measurement, Personality and Cognitive Assessment, Trauma and Counseling, Health Psychology, and Geropsychology. Part-time consultation and clinical practice are encouraged, consistent with our practitioner-scholar model. Previous experience with accreditation processes, training, and other administrative work is also valued.

The GSPP is housed within the interdisciplinary Morrison Family College of Health. The GSPP aims to train practitioner-scholars who integrate the science of psychology with self-reflective practice; think systemically and developmentally; and provide ethical, inclusive, and culturally sensitive services to advance the common good.   • Teach and advise MA and PsyD students
  • Supervise doctoral dissertations
  • Engage in scholarship and service at the school, university, and community levels.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Salary Range: $75,000 to $90,000

The University of St. Thomas has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The specific salary offered will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required qualifications:

  • Have earned a doctoral degree (PsyD, PhD) (U.S. or foreign equivalent degree) from an APA-accredited Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or School Psychology program or from a related discipline; alternatively, ABD will be considered. A completed doctorate is preferred, but applicants who will complete their degree by September 2027 will be considered We are particularly interested in candidates committed to teaching a student body with varied backgrounds, perspectives, and life experiences.
  • Commitment to mentor, advise, and teach graduate students in both a practitioner-oriented MA Program and an APA-accredited practitioner-scholar doctoral program in Counseling Psychology.
  • Be willing to attend on-campus meetings and events on a regular basis.
