We seek an economist who will engage students in the practical use of economic reasoning and evidence. Candidates with interests in applied economics are especially encouraged. Expertise in agricultural economics would be valuable to our students and region but is not required.

Teaching and Faculty Responsibilities:
The core teaching assignment includes Principles of Microeconomics and Principles of Macroeconomics, along with International Trade and International Finance on a rotating basis. Depending on the candidate’s expertise and program needs, there may also be opportunities to teach Business Statistics, Business Analytics I or II, and upper-level electives in economics or related areas. The typical teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester, with courses offered in face-to-face and online formats.

The successful candidate will advise and mentor students, maintain an active program of scholarship appropriate to a tenure-track appointment, and contribute service to the School, university, profession, and community. Faculty have opportunities to involve undergraduates in applied projects and to connect course material with economic issues relevant to the region and beyond.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph. D. in Economics, Applied Economics, Agricultural Economics, or a closely related field by the start of the appointment. ABD candidates who expect to complete their degree before then are encouraged to apply.
  • Ability or demonstrated potential to teach the core economics courses effectively at the undergraduate level.
  • Evidence of scholarly activity or a clear plan for continued research.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • An applied research agenda that connects economic analysis to business, policy, agriculture, or other real-world questions.
  • Teaching or research experience in our high-growth programs including finance and agricultural business.
  • Preparation to teach statistics, business analytics, or upper-level electives that complement School of Business programs.
