The 120-acre campus, in the vibrant, capital city of Bismarck, is beautifully situated overlooking the Missouri River with easy access to the Interstate as well as Bismarck’s many amenities. Safe and easy to navigate, Bismarck-Mandan and the surrounding area have a growing population of more than 100,000. Bismarck State College is the only polytechnic in North Dakota. About 3% of higher education institutions are deemed polytechnic. Designated in 2018 by the ND Legislature and State Board of Higher Education (SBHE). (See page 6 of September 27, 2018 Meeting Minutes under SBHE Meeting Archive.) The third largest college in the ND University System, BSC has approximately 4,000 students, 52% male, 48% female; student/faculty ratio 14:1; average class size, 14. BSC offers 100+ career pathways with bachelor’s and associate degrees, and stackable certificate options. BSC fields varsity NJCAA intercollegiate teams including volleyball, baseball, softball, men’s and women’s basketball, track & field, cross country and esports. The Mystics are part of the Mon-Dak Athletic Conference, an alliance of eight state, community and technical colleges located in North Dakota and Montana.
