General Summary

The on-site Art Faculty will teach all assigned courses in accordance with Odessa College policies, procedures, and academic standards. Courses may include Art Appreciation, Art History, and Art Studio. Provide engaging, student-centered instruction that supports student learning and success. Assist the department in meeting its academic and operational goals, supporting students, and advancing the mission of Odessa College. Participate in department and college activities, meetings, and initiatives as appropriate, and maintain effective communication and professional relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administration.Specific Position Duties

  • Maintain current knowledge and expertise in the assigned teaching field and incorporate relevant developments, practices, and technologies into instruction.
  • Demonstrate current knowledge, experience, and proficiency in painting, with the ability to teach painting-related coursework as needed by the department.
  • Demonstrate willingness and ability to teach a variety of courses, schedules, locations, and instructional delivery methods, as needed and reasonably requested by Odessa College.
  • Teach all assigned courses within the approved curriculum and in accordance with Odessa College policies, procedures, academic standards, and instructional expectations.
  • Develop and utilize appropriately challenging coursework and learning activities that encourage student engagement, critical thinking, and academic growth.
  • Provide students with clear, written expectations, including course syllabi, policies, assignment instructions, grading criteria, and other applicable course materials.
  • Administer assessments that appropriately measure student learning and align with course content and objectives, including a comprehensive final examination when applicable.
  • Foster an inclusive and respectful learning environment that recognizes the worth and dignity of all individuals and supports every student’s opportunity to learn and succeed.
  • Maintain an appropriate classroom and assessment environment in traditional, online, web-enhanced, and distance-learning settings that encourages the free exchange of ideas while promoting academic integrity, objectivity, and professional conduct.
  • Prepare adequately for all instructional activities and arrive promptly for scheduled classes, laboratories, meetings, and other assigned instructional responsibilities.
  • Present course material clearly, accurately, and effectively using instructional methods appropriate to the subject matter and student learning needs.
  • Respond to student questions, concerns, comments, and feedback in a timely and professional manner through classroom interaction, posted office hours, electronic communication, and other appropriate means.
  • Teach Web, Web-enhanced, and ITV courses as assigned, utilizing appropriate instructional technologies and college-supported learning platforms.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional technologies and resources to enhance student learning and engagement, including applicable Odessa College instructional technology tools.
  • <li>Teach CollegeNow (Dual Credit) courses and, when assigned, travel to participating locations throughout the West Texas area.

  • Support student recruitment, advising, retention, and student-success initiatives as appropriate to the position and department.
  • Participate in department, division, and college-wide meetings, committees, professional development activities, and other institutional initiatives as assigned.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to support departmental goals, student success, and the mission of Odessa College.
  • Maintain accurate and timely instructional, grading, attendance, and other required academic records in accordance with college policies and established deadlines.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the appropriate supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree with 18 or more graduate hours in Art or a related field from a regionally accredited institution; Computer literacy; Excellent work ethic; and Documented commitment to teaching excellence.Work Hours: Varied according to schedule
