Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The mission of the School of Education and Business is to transform business students into proactive, ethical and compassionate business professionals and leaders who are committed to enhancing the quality of life for the citizens of the Northeastern North Carolina region and beyond. The School accomplishes this goal by a quality, rigorous and research-based pedagogy that focuses on the domestic and global challenges of business. The School of Education and Business consists of two undergraduate departments: Business, Accounting, and Sport Management and the Department of Education. Each department provides students from all backgrounds with rigorous and relevant business educational experiences. We prepare students for success in life and in their chosen careers. Our graduates are prepared for careers in technologically oriented and competitive global environment. These departments are committed to maintaining a challenging environment that promotes both independence and service to others, and accomplish these through communication skills, critical thinking ability and ethical and social responsibilities.
Description of Work
The position is expected to enhance quality, visibility, and stature of the School and the University. The Endowed Professor in Economics is expected to make significant contributions towards maintenance of the School of Business and Economics’ AACSB accreditation and the achievement of the proposed MBA program.
Competencies/Knowledge Skills, and Abilities Required in this Position
Doctorate degree in Economics from an accredited institution of higher education with an established record of research, teaching and service. Must be academically qualified in Economics by AACSB Standards. Demonstrate leadership in the development on interdisciplinary collaboration. History of effective teaching of diverse and nontraditional students.
Minimum Training and Experience
A Doctorate degree is required in Business Administration or related areas. May hire at the lower rank of Distinguished Scholar based on review of credentials. The individual selected for the Distinguished Professorship will be a published scholar in business and administration. His/her presence on the faculty will provide intellectual depth while further strengthening the quality of teaching in the fulfillment of the university’s mission of excellence in research and scholarly activities.
