Job Summary

The Department of Mathematics invites applications for a tenure-track position, at the level of Assistant Professor, in the area of stochastic and deterministic differential equations and related models. This position will start 8/17/2020. Candidates who have yet to defend their thesis will be considered, but a doctoral degree in mathematics must be granted prior to the start date of the appointment. The ideal candidate is expected to have demonstrated the capacity for independent research of excellent quality. In addition to research accomplishments, selection criteria include potential contributions to the educational programs of the Department at the graduate and undergraduate levels.

Who We Are

The Department of Mathematics presently has twenty-seven tenured and tenure-track faculty as well as five postdoctoral fellows and visitors. The Mathematics Department has over fifty graduate students and serves well over five hundred undergraduate majors and minors. We have a broad range of research interests in Mathematics, including Algebraic and Differential Geometry, Combinatorics, Logic and Foundations, Mathematical Physics, Number Theory, Noncommutative Geometry, Operator Algebras, PDE, Probability, and Topology. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Teach three one semester courses in undergraduate or graduate mathematics during each academic year, carry out mathematical research at a high level and carry out service duties, such as one or two committee memberships, suitable to the assistant professor junior appointment.
