Research Assistant Professor position in the Department of Biological Sciences specializing in the field of marine bioacoustics. Individual should have a strong background in marine bioacoustics, and demonstrated leadership in engaged scholarship, outreach, and education. Strong candidates will demonstrate expertise in areas such as passive acoustic monitoring, animal communication, acoustic and video analysis methods, soundscape ecology, emerging technology and quantitative approaches, or conservation mediated through acoustic methods especially in the context of the effect of climate change and anthro

Duties/Responsibilities

  • The Research Assistant Professor will be expected to establish a strong externally-funded research program that results in publications.

Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:

  • A Ph.D. in a relevant field is required.
  • Applicants must have a strong publication record, and existing ability and potential to continue securing competitive grants and awards.

Required Licenses & Certifications:

  • Commensurate with research needs.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Applicants must utilize bioacoustic methods to explore animal populations.

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants are expected to strive to broaden participation in acoustic ecology through their research, and/or public engagement the richness of diversity in the learning experience and to integrate a variety of approaches and perspectives into instructional methods and research tools.
  • We are particularly interested in candidates who will develop new opportunities for exchange with other research institutions, domestic or abroad, to strengthen UNH’s national and international profile as a leader in acoustic ecology.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • We prefer applicants who demonstrate a strong field component to their research program and the ability to engage graduate students in their field work.
  • A demonstrated track record of engaging with the general public and mentoring students in bioacoustics research through to publication are both highly desirable.
