Description
Springfield College invites applications for a Program-Track Assistant Professor of Computer Science in the Department of Math/Physics and Computer Science. We welcome applicants from any discipline within computer science and related disciplines, but a focus on AI and machine learning or Data and Computational Science is preferred. Candidates who can develop and teach interdisciplinary courses which overlap with the field of Data Science, as well as candidates who will develop partnerships with area industries to support student internships and post-graduate employment, are highly encouraged to apply. The position has a full-time workload of 12 hours per semester. Program-track faculty, whose emphasis is on teaching and professional or clinical practice, are appointed to a rolling series of contracts that lead to long-term appointment at the college. Program-Track faculty are eligible for promotion as long as they meet the relevant criteria outlined in the faculty handbook. Preference is given to candidates who are collaborative and creative, as well as engaging and innovative teachers and have a demonstrated commitment to inclusion, access, and excellence in STEM education. These courses will meet face-to-face on the Springfield, MA campus.
Qualifications
- A Masters degree (with commensurate teaching experience) required; PhD from a regionally accredited institution preferred. Strong teaching experience is ideal.
